What you actually get
The same game, not a remake
Steam’s description of The Forest Temple is four sentences long: solve the puzzles, beat the clock, collect all the diamonds, play solo or with a friend. There is no remastered art pass and no new level set. What has changed is the runtime — these were Flash games, and Flash has not shipped in a browser since 2020.
Two characters with inverted hazards
Fireboy walks through fire and dies in water. Watergirl is the reverse. Every level contains terrain that is free to one character and lethal to the other, which is why the series works as a two-player game and not merely allows two players. Neither person can solve a room alone, regardless of skill.
Two players, one keyboard
Both characters can be driven from a single keyboard on a single machine. Steam also lists Remote Play Together for playing online, but the default assumption is two people sitting in front of one computer.
