Features

Witchbrook has no release date. Chucklefish list it as 2026 on Steam, and that is the most specific thing anyone can honestly tell you.
It was delayed out of 2025 in October of that year. Since then the window has stayed at “2026” and no month has been attached to it.
Search interest is breaking out anyway, because the premise — a magic college life sim for four players — has no real competitor and people keep checking whether it is close.
What Witchbrook actually is
Witchbrook puts you in Mossport, a seaside town, as the newest resident witch enrolled at Witchbrook College. You attend classes, complete assignments, make friends, find love, and work toward graduation across an academic year.
It is developed by Chucklefish alongside Robotality, with Chucklefish publishing.
The one feature that makes it hard to build
Witchbrook supports up to four players. That is the whole reason to pay attention, and plausibly a large part of why it keeps slipping.
Life sims are built on a daily schedule. The genre works because the town has a clock: the shop opens, a character is at the pub on Thursday, the festival happens on a fixed date, and your day is a budget you spend against that clock.
Put four players in that world and the clock has to serve four different budgets at once. Someone wants to sleep to skip to morning. Someone else is mid-conversation. The season cannot advance for one player and not another. Most co-op life sims solve this by shrinking what multiplayer touches — two players, shared farm, limited social content. Four players at full depth is a genuinely harder problem, and nobody has shipped a convincing version of it.
So when Witchbrook slips, the honest read is not that Chucklefish are slow. It is that the headline feature is the difficult kind.
What we know about the town
Schedules that run without you
Mossport’s residents are described as having their own routines — working shifts in local businesses, drinking at the pub, cramming in the college library, turning out for seasonal events. The town is meant to be living whether or not you are watching it.
Seasons that visibly change the place
As the academic year progresses, the town changes with it: winter snow melting into spring flowers, mittens giving way to sun hats. Cosmetic, but it is the mechanism that makes a year feel like a year.
Magic as coursework
You develop abilities by attending classes and completing assignments rather than by grinding a skill bar. Progression is tied to the calendar.
What nobody can tell you yet
No date. No price. No confirmed platforms beyond Windows on the Steam listing. No extended hands-on coverage from anyone.
If you see a specific release date for Witchbrook on an aggregator or a YouTube thumbnail, it is not coming from Chucklefish. Wishlist it and wait — that is the correct action here, and it costs nothing.
In the meantime the closest things actually playable are Fields of Mistria for the small-town social loop and Dressmaker if the appeal is the crafting rather than the school.
