VHOLUME is out now on Steam. The melancholic first-person parkour adventure launched on August 21, 2026 and is currently running a 10% launch discount, down to $7.20 from $8.00.
Bureaucracy as a platforming challenge
You play Robert, a man in the derelict capital of Afro-Eurasia under an all-controlling Ministry, trying to do one deeply mundane thing: restore his family revoked ration tickets. That paperwork errand becomes an odyssey across a brutalist city that does not want to be crossed efficiently.
It is a smart framing. Most parkour games justify movement with chases or combat. VHOLUME justifies it with a queue you cannot get to the front of.
Movement built to be broken
You jump, run, climb, and slide with a lot of freedom, and the environments are designed to challenge agility and creativity in equal measure. The interesting part is that the developers expect skilled players to break the level design: exploiting momentum, finding shortcuts, and cutting through the labyrinth to chase target times.
That turns each level into a speedrunning problem rather than a fixed route, which is where this kind of game earns its replay value.
Ghosts, multiplayer, and Workshop support
Three things extend it well past its short length:
- Multiplayer — play solo or run levels together with friends.
- Ghosts — see other players runs, share your own, and discover routes you would never have found alone.
- Steam Workshop — play community-made levels or build your own, which effectively makes the level count open-ended.
Made by three people
VHOLUME comes from Nathan Grange, Léonard Lemaitre, and Niels Tiercelin, published by IronEqual. It has full controller support, Steam Achievements, and a set of accessibility options including camera comfort settings and custom volume controls.
