Someone Made a Roguelite Where You Only Play the Tank, and It Just Added a Summoner

Every MMO player has had the thought: tanking is the most interesting job in the raid, and you can only do it if 19 other people show up. Don’t Lose Aggro is a single-player action roguelite built entirely to solve that problem, and it just launched a playtest for a major update.

A roguelite about holding threat

You protect a party of companions by forcing enemies to attack you instead. Damage them to hold their attention, or bait them into chasing you across the arena. The game is explicitly built so you can play any kind of tank you can think of, with the emphasis on control, strategy, and positioning rather than raw damage.

Companions are the other half of the system. While they are alive they grant powerful upgradeable abilities that shape your run — and the game leaves it up to you whether protecting them is worth the trouble.

What the update adds

The headline addition in the playtest is a Summoner archetype that fights alongside skeleton minions, which fits neatly into a game already built around managing what enemies are paying attention to.

Why it stands out

Tanking is one of the few genuinely distinctive roles in games, and it is almost always locked behind group content. Turning it into a solo roguelite where threat management is the core loop, rather than a chore you perform for other players, is a smart bit of design translation.

Don’t Lose Aggro is out now in Early Access at $9.99. Find it on Steam, or read our full breakdown.
