The Steam Summer Sale 2026 has come and gone, but the calendar is far from empty. If you are wondering when the next Steam sale lands, what you missed in June, or when to finally clear that wishlist, here is every confirmed date for the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
Steam Summer Sale 2026: what happened
The Summer Sale ran from June 25 to July 9, 2026, opening and closing at 10:00 AM Pacific. As usual it was the longest and broadest sale of the year, stretching across two full weeks so players could work through thousands of discounts without panic-buying on day one.
Seasonal sales like this are open to every released game on Steam, which is why the Summer Sale is consistently the best window for indie discounts. Any title released at least 30 days before the event can join, and there is no discount cooldown penalty for participating.
When is the next Steam sale? (Confirmed 2026 dates)
- Steam Autumn Sale: October 1 – October 8, 2026
- Steam Winter Sale: December 17, 2026 – January 4, 2027
For reference, the two that already passed this year were the Spring Sale (March 19–26) and the Summer Sale (June 25 – July 9). All Steam sales begin and end at 10:00 AM Pacific.
The next major event on the calendar is the Autumn Sale on October 1, which is a one-week event rather than two, so it moves faster than the Summer Sale did.
Themed Steam Fests still to come in 2026
Between the big seasonal sales, Valve runs smaller themed events that spotlight specific genres. These are excellent for discovering indie games you would never find on the front page:
- August: a cyberpunk-themed event
- October: horror games take over, alongside Steam Next Fest (October 2026)
- Earlier in July: Social Deduction Fest and Train Fest
Worth knowing: Steam Fests are not sale events. Participating games are not required to discount, so treat them as discovery showcases rather than guaranteed deals. Steam Next Fest in particular is a demo festival, running three times a year in February, June, and October.
How to actually get the best deals
Wishlist everything now, not later
This is the single most useful habit. Any discount of 20% or greater automatically triggers an email notification to every player with that game on their wishlist. Build the list before the sale, then let Steam tell you when the price drops instead of hunting manually.
Do not assume a sale price is the lowest ever
Seasonal sales usually match a game best historical discount, but not always. Checking price history before buying takes seconds and occasionally saves you from paying more than someone did three months earlier.
The best indie deals are rarely on the front page
Steam front-page slots skew toward the top 10–20% of best-selling titles. The genuinely interesting indie discounts live in genre tags, curator lists, and themed fests, which is exactly why the smaller events are worth your time.
