One of the best city builders of the last decade is currently 70% off. Against the Storm has dropped from $29.99 to $8.99 on Steam.
A city builder that expects you to lose
You are the Viceroy, charged by the Scorched Queen with reclaiming the wilderness for the Smoldering City, civilization last bastion against the Blightstorm. Unlike most survival builders that focus on a single settlement, Against the Storm has you managing a network of settlements populated by humans, beavers, lizards, foxes, and harpies, each with their own specializations and needs.
The twist is structural: it is a roguelite. Never-ending storms eventually batter your settlements into collapse, and the game is designed around that cycle rather than treating it as failure.
Why it is worth $9
The production chains are genuinely demanding, the run-based structure removes the endless-sandbox drift that affects a lot of builders, and the fantasy-race specializations mean no two settlements play identically. Developed by Eremite Games and published by Hooded Horse.
