Next Reign: Kingdom is an incremental strategy game about turning a single field into a medieval kingdom. You gather resources, train workers, construct specialised buildings, unlock industries, craft increasingly valuable goods and command units in tactical battles, with automation unlocking as you pass milestones. It is developed and published by Tiny Tulip Games.

Chart credential: #28 on the Steam 250 best games of the week chart, up +10 places, with a score of 7.20 from 82 reviews. Released 3 September 2026.

Key features

Automation is the reward, not the setting

Each milestone hands back time by automating something you were doing manually. That inverts the usual incremental problem where idle progress arrives on a timer regardless of play: here the pace of the game is set by how quickly you retire your own busywork, so the sense of progress is attached to a decision rather than to waiting.

Production chains give the numbers somewhere to go

Crafting increasingly valuable goods through optimised chains means the currency is not a single escalating counter. An incremental game with one number eventually flattens; splitting it into industries that feed each other keeps introducing new bottlenecks, which is what sustains interest past the first few ascensions.

Tactical battles interrupt the spreadsheet on purpose

Formations and specialised units put a skill check between the player and the next tier. Without it, a game like this is a pure optimisation exercise; the battles are what make an under-built economy visible as a loss rather than just a slower timer.
