DETAILS

Monster Alchemy is a creature-crafting RPG with a deliberate refusal at its centre: you do not catch monsters, you synthesise them. Combine ingredients to discover recipes, send the resulting creatures out to mine ore, chop wood or brew potions, then fuse them together into new species and fight turn-based battles with whatever you have made. It launched into Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026.

Chart credential: Monster Alchemy entered the Steam 250 weekly chart as a new entry at #48, with a score of 7.06 from 34 reviews at 97% positive. Released 10 September 2026.

Key features

Creation instead of capture changes who owns the roster

In a collector, the designer decides what exists and you go find it. Here the recipe system means your roster is a record of what you worked out, and a rare creature is rare because nobody has stumbled on the combination yet. That shifts the reward from luck at an encounter table to knowledge you can actually share.

Monsters as labour, not just as fighters

Creatures gather resources and level their gathering skills independently of combat. This gives every synthesised monster a second reason to exist — a creature that loses fights can still be the best miner you own — and it keeps failed experiments in the economy instead of in storage.

Fusion keeps the recipe tree from bottoming out

Fusing two existing monsters produces new species, so the combination space grows out of your own collection rather than from a fixed ingredient list. That is the mechanism that has to carry the Early Access period: a crafting game dies when players exhaust the recipes, and fusion is the design answer to that.

Early Access status

Monster Alchemy is in Early Access, which means content, balance and systems are expected to change. The Steam page lists interface support for English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. Treat the current creature roster and recipe list as provisional.
