DETAILS

  • Studio: Patricio Marin
  • Genre: Co-op
  • Platform: PC, Steam
  • Status: Released

Pretend Cars Racing is back, rebuilt from the ground up. Keeping its balance between arcade fun and simulation feel, Pretend Cars Racing 2 brings more cars, more tracks and more ways to race. Create and share custom circuits with the built-in Track Creator and Steam Workshop support, race through a dynamic day-night cycle designed for long multi-class events, and chase lap times against AI, friends or the global leaderboards. Split-screen multiplayer works locally or over the internet, and through Steam Remote Play Together friends can join even if they do not own a copy.

Chart credential: Steam 250 seven-day chart position #39 for the week of 5 September 2026. Score 7.10 from 43 reviews at 95 percent positive. Released 31 August 2026.

Key features

The Track Creator is what keeps it alive

A solo developer cannot ship enough circuits to sustain a racing game, and buying more content is not an option at this price. Handing players a track editor with Workshop distribution shifts the content problem to the audience — the reason decades-old arcade racers still have active player bases is almost always a level editor, not the shipped tracklist.

Top-down removes the hardware barrier

Overhead racing looks like a stylistic choice; it is mostly an engineering one. Without a chase camera the game does not need detailed car models, track-side geometry or long draw distances, so it runs on nearly anything and can hold a stable frame rate during split-screen, which is exactly when a racer can least afford to drop one.

Local split-screen is the rare part

Couch multiplayer has largely disappeared from racing games, and the games that keep it are almost all small ones. Shared-screen play plus Remote Play Together means the second player needs neither a copy nor an account, which is a meaningful difference when the whole purchase is eight dollars.
