Gunman Contracts – Stand Alone

DETAILS

  • Studio: ANB_Seth
  • Genre: Action
  • Platform: PC, Steam
  • Status: Early Access

Gunman Contracts started life as a pair of Half-Life: Alyx mods. Stand Alone is the from-the-ground-up version: an action-movie shooter built for both VR and flat-screen play, in which you are a professional operative working contracts for an order that operates outside the law. The campaign follows the Collectors, a crime operation kidnapping and killing people for reasons the story unpacks, from a safehouse outside the city to a warehouse district to a mob restaurant with something underneath it.

Chart credential: new entry at #41 on the Steam 250 seven-day chart, scoring 6.98 from 471 reviews — the third-largest review base among the week’s new entries. Released 10 September 2026 in Early Access.

Key features

Built for VR and non-VR from the start

The store page is specific that this was developed for both from the ground up, rather than being a VR title with a flat mode added. That distinction decides whether the gunplay reads as deliberate or as motion controls translated badly — and it is the reason a mod audience that mostly played in headsets can now recommend it to people who do not own one.

A hub that is also the practice range

The Hive holds a speed-shooting obstacle course, pop-up target practice, a classic range and holographic combat training, plus a gun wall with 18 or more weapons to unlock and a bench to modify them. Putting the training inside the fiction is how a skill-based shooter teaches its own systems without a tutorial level nobody replays.

Takedown mode and leaderboards

Takedown lets you pick enemy types and counts and then clear the area, with leaderboards attached. For a short campaign, a configurable score mode is what converts a weekend purchase into a repeatable one — it turns the combat system itself into the content.

Where to find it

Gunman Contracts – Stand Alone is on Steam at $24.99, in Early Access. Published by 2080 Games, Windows-only, English and German. The store page carries a content note: it is modelled on Hollywood action thrillers and features frequent violence, though it also ships a low-violence mode that disables nearly all blood effects while keeping the action intact.
