You are a prisoner in the strangest prison, armed with nothing but a spoon.
That spoon does three completely different jobs, and the fact that it never becomes anything else is the whole design. It is your digging tool, your kitchen utensil, and your weapon.
Escape By Spoon is a prison escape adventure from Paiband Game Studio, drawn in the style of 1930s rubber-hose cartoons.
Key features
The spoon is your first tool, and possibly your best one
You dig tunnels beneath your cell, uncover hidden paths, and gather resources on the way down. The spoon upgrades as you go, so the thing you started with stays with you rather than being replaced — which is unusual for a progression system and quietly the point of the game.
By day, you are the prison chef
Escaping on an empty stomach is a bad plan. You find ingredients, wash the dirty ones, and chop them well or make a complete mess of it, combining whatever you find into meals that prepare you for what is below.
The complication: some ingredients are alive and would rather not be eaten. Dinner, as the developers put it, may have plans of its own, so part of cooking is chasing your food around the kitchen.
Not everything down there wants you to escape
The tunnels are occupied. Skeletons and stranger things live beneath the prison, and the spoon becomes a weapon out of necessity rather than design. Combat, digging and cooking all run through the same object.
1930s cartoon art direction
The visual style is drawn from classic rubber-hose animation — the bouncy, elastic look of early Fleischer and Disney shorts. It gives the violence and the horror underneath a specific tonal friction that a realistic style could not.
Full controller support
Single-player with Steam Achievements, full controller support, and native DualShock and DualSense support alongside the Steam Input API.
Why the one-tool constraint works
Most games hand you a starting tool and then take it away. You dig with a spoon until you find a shovel, then a drill, then something powered.
Escape By Spoon refuses that. The spoon gets better, but it is always a spoon — which turns a joke premise into a genuine design constraint and forces every system in the game to route through the same object. That is a harder thing to build than a tool tree, and it is why the premise holds up past the title.
