DETAILS

Deadzoned is a traditional turn-based action roguelike in a sci-fi setting. In the year 29XX, a nanite plague has decimated the star colonies; on the planet Celestious, survivors scavenge subterranean zones for supplies and lost tech while fighting the bandits, beasts and monsters that stalk the blackouts. You make do with the busted-up weapons and gear you stumble across. It is developed by caiys and published by caiysware.

Chart credential: #34 on the Steam 250 best games of the week chart, up +14 places, with a score of 7.13 from 31 reviews. Early Access release 7 September 2026.

Key features

Turn-based, which makes scavenged gear readable

Loot that is deliberately unreliable only works if you can see it fail. Turn structure gives you the space to notice that a jamming weapon cost you a specific exchange, rather than dissolving into the noise of a real-time fight — so improvisation reads as a decision instead of bad luck.

The blackouts are a resource constraint, not a mood

Building the zones around darkness ties exploration depth to what you brought with you. That is the classic roguelike tension restated in a sci-fi frame: the further in you push, the more of your consumables are already spent, and the retreat decision is the one the run is actually testing.

Traditional roguelike structure at a $4.24 price

This is a turn-based, run-based roguelike in the older sense rather than an action game with permadeath. That audience is small and specific, and pricing it under five dollars in Early Access is the sensible way to reach it — the barrier for a niche structure is willingness to try, not budget.
