Angel Zero is an action-adventure game being solo developed by FcsVorfeed. You play an (angel?) girl who signs a pact with an Organization under the “Zero Angel Project”, taking on missions to hunt down assigned targets.
The pitch the developer keeps returning to is contrast: a cute angel design wrapped around combat that is deliberately messy and grounded.
Key features
Scavenge first, then enter Hunt Mode
Before each mission you search the target area for combat supplies and gear. Once you are equipped, you enter Hunt Mode — a fight to the death with your assigned target. The preparation phase is a separate activity from the kill, which gives the structure more shape than a straight level run.
The combat references are films, not games
The developer is explicit about what they are chasing, and it is an unusual list for an anime-styled action game:
“I have been heavily influenced by movies like John Wick and Nobody, as well as games like The Last of Us and Watch Dogs. I am trying to avoid moves that look too choreographed and instead lean into that messy, stumbling, grounded feel.”
That is the whole design thesis. Most games in this visual style chase clean, readable, choreographed animation. Angel Zero is deliberately going the other way, then setting it against the wide sweeping attacks of an angel.
Lighting is getting unusual attention for an early build
The developer has been tuning foliage translucency to capture sunlight filtering through trees, and experimenting with auto-exposure and god rays for richer contrast between light and dark.
That is a lot of care spent on atmosphere at a stage when most solo projects are still fighting the core loop.
Collectibles, budget permitting
Currently a mostly linear action game, with the developer wanting to add collectibles for a sense of discovery. They are candid about the constraint: “Since I am a solo dev, I am constantly weighing the amount of content against what is actually doable.”
How early is it, honestly
Very. The store page opens with the developer’s own warning:
The game is in veeeery early development! Please ignore the mouse drawings! It’s only like this because I don’t have any real cover art yet!
There is no release date and no announced price. This is a wishlist-and-watch project rather than something arriving soon, and the developer is refreshingly direct about that rather than dressing it up.
