Folk-Tography is a four-player co-op cryptid photography extraction game. You and your crew head into Folk Valley to photograph legendary creatures, investigate paranormal anomalies, manage scarce resources and get out with the evidence before the valley consumes you. Every photo is graded on focus, framing and fill, so pointing the camera is not the same as getting the shot.

Steam 250 weekly chart: #36 on the Top 50 Games of the Past Week, scored 7.05 from 40 reviews at 95% positive, released 20 October 2026. Chart position via Steam 250.

Key features

A camera scored on three axes, not one

Photos are rated on focus, framing and fill: keep the subject in frame to charge the focus meter, keep it centred, and get close enough that it fills the shot. Grading three things at once means the optimal play is to approach a dangerous creature rather than snipe it from safety, which is how the camera becomes a risk mechanic instead of a screenshot button.

Extraction structure applied to a non-violent goal

Extraction shooters work because leaving with loot is harder than acquiring it. Folk-Tography keeps that tension but makes the loot photographic evidence, so the thing you are protecting on the way out is data rather than gear — and the creature you need a picture of is also the reason you might not make it back.

Four-player co-op with scarce resources

The valley does not supply enough for everyone, which forces the group to split responsibilities instead of all doing the same job. That is what keeps a four-player lobby from collapsing into four people photographing the same cryptid from four angles.

Where to find it
