GONE Fishing takes the most relaxing activity in games and attaches a quota enforced by an eldritch god.
You and up to seven friends fish a lake. Every day the thing living in it needs a certain weight of offering. Miss the quota and it eats you instead.
Chart credential: sits at #3 on the Steam 250 weekly chart with a score of 8.50 from 3,842 reviews at 91% positive. Released 20 October 2026 by GONE Studios.
Key features
Fishing as a resource treadmill, not a minigame
There are over 100 catchable species and dozens of live animals usable as bait. What you pull out can be grilled, smoked, turned into a pearl, sold to traders for gear, or gambled away in the pit.
Every one of those is a decision against the clock, because the beast’s quota is due regardless. That is the design trick: fishing games are usually open-ended, and a deadline is what converts a calm loop into a horror one.
The lake is not the only predator
Territorial beasts, stalking nightmares and ambush predators share the map. Learning which creature behaves how is survival knowledge, not flavour — a dead fisherman feeds nothing, and the quota does not pause while you respawn.
Eight players is a different game than one
Solo, GONE Fishing is a tense resource chase. With a full lobby it becomes a logistics problem: who fishes, who hauls, who watches the treeline. The developers scaled it 1 to 8 rather than fixing a party size, so the horror shifts from isolation to coordination as you add people.
The honest caveat
This is a co-op horror game in a crowded year for co-op horror games, and like most of them it is strongest in the first ten hours while the bestiary is still unknown. Once your group knows which creatures matter, the fear drops and what remains is a competent fishing economy with a timer.
At $6.69 that is a fair trade. Just do not expect it to hold a group for a hundred hours — it is not built for that, and the 91% rating reflects people who got what they paid for rather than people who found a forever game.

Frequently asked questions
How many players does GONE Fishing support?
Between one and eight. It is playable solo, and online co-op scales up to a full lobby of eight.
Is GONE Fishing actually scary?
It is a horror game built on pressure rather than jump scares. The threat comes from the daily sacrifice quota and from predators that hunt you while you fish, not from scripted frights.
Is there a free demo?
Yes. GONE Studios publishes a free demo on the Steam store page.
How much does GONE Fishing cost?
$6.69, discounted 33% from $9.99 at the time of writing.
Can you beat the lake entity?
Yes. The game includes fighting back against the entity rather than only feeding it indefinitely.
