Key features

Two-handed builds from a pool of 50-plus weapons

Every weapon is one-handed, so you carry a sword, dagger, wand or shield in either hand and the pairing is the build. That removes the usual weapon-tier ladder: a dagger is not worse than a greatsword, it is a different half of a combination. Shields are the one exception and are left-hand only.

Status effects that apply to bosses too

Bleed, poison, burn, freeze, shock, choke, shatter, life splash, darkness and light struck all work on every enemy including bosses. Rogue-lites often exempt bosses from their own status systems to protect the fight design, and refusing to do that is what makes theorycrafting worth the effort here.

Route choice on a node map, with encounters that pay out

Three generated maps carry their own enemies, backgrounds and random encounters, plus chests, shops, a statue that boosts health, mana or stamina, and a blacksmith that smelts spare gear into upgrades. The Slay the Spire structure is doing what it always does: making the walk between fights a decision.
